Ellery Queen definisce Dagobert Trostler "Il primo importante investigatore teutonico!"

Dagobert Trostler è lo Sherlock Holmes viennese. .

This book contains 85 stories of Lost Mines and Treasurers, in Central California (composed of the Counties of Alameda, Fresno, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Tuolumne). Many of the stories concern treasurers buried by the Priests, the Spanish, Indians, bandits and Colonial settlers during the many incidents and wars that rocked the area in the 16th through the early 20th centuries. I found the data for this book while doing research on old mines for my series of books Mines of the American West. The “Lost Mines and Treasurers” were identified from articles in early American newspapers and other sources considered reliable. Where possible, for those lost treasures still to be found, I have tried to tie them to modern mines or areas and include some background data on such areas. In doing this, some of them seemed to “fall short” in the area of fact and logic, which I may point out. The reader should understand that this is a collection of data from old and new publications and not a focused specifically on the effort to find the specific properties, although some research, especially from a logic standpoint, has been done. If the reader can glean critical information from these original articles and the limited research that allows or helps him or her to locate a “lost mine” or “lost treasure”, I wish him or her well and leave it to them to reap the rewards. The print version of this book has been produced in the 8½” X 11” format to keep the price low. If done in 6” X 9” or smaller, the book would be 2 or 3 times as many pages in length and would cost substantially more to increased “on demand” print costs. These seem to be heavily influenced by the total number of pages. While this may be one of the seeming drawbacks to “on-demand printing” - the benefit of “on-demand printing” is that specialty books, such as this, are now practical to publish where the target market may be relatively small and minimal returns to the author are acceptable.Due to the number of stories I found for the State of California, the stories have been split into three books, Southern California, Central California and Northern California. This was done to keep the cost of the book under $10.00 and to keep the book small enough so that if it were produced in a smaller page size, such as the more common 6” X 9” or smaller, or as a “pocket book”, the number of pages would still be manageable. It should also be noted that I may periodically update and revise the electronic version before creating a Fourth Edition. The guidelines for submissions for the electronic versions allow updates, without producing a full new edition, while the “print on demand” or hard copy paperback version does not and require that a full new edition to be developed to incorporate any changes. As such, the two books may not be exactly the same, as it is likely the electronic version will be updated more frequently than the paperback.

Rachel Hunt Steenblik and Ashley Mae Hoiland are pilgrims, dreamers, explorers in search of our Heavenly Mother and the country where she dwells. Together they have created a record of their journey, an exploration in visual and literary art, of their search. They search everywhere--looking back at mothers and grandmothers and forward to mothering their own daughters and sons. They consider giving birth, nursing, and nurturing children as experiences women share with their Mother. They examine seasons, maple trees, the moon, dragonflies, spiders, bears and eagles as metaphors for Her beauty, fierceness, and power. They re-read, re-write, and re-interpret scripture to apply to women as well as men. They consider Eve, Mary, Emmeline, Emma, Sophia, Penelope, Hannah, and many other women for clues. They learn individual lessons about Mother from a broad community of friends, family, writers, and poets (the sources are indicated in page after page of notes at the end of the collection). Hoiland's drawings, evocative in both line and color, invite a deeper and prolonged attention to Hunt Steenblik's poems. These two fine artists attempt to reach through language and visual art toward spiritual truth. That attempt requires openness, simplicity, repetition, pauses, and space for the reader. This is a book to read slowly, to consider, to savor. The gifts it offers will last.

--Susan Elizabeth Howe, co-editor of Discoveries Two Centuries of Poems by Mormon Women and author of Salt

"I loved Mother’s Milk, and I loved I Gave Her a Name. This collection shows that Rachel’s relationship with the Mother has matured and deepened, particularly through her experience with soul-wrenching grief. I learn so much about who She is every time I turn to Rachel’s work. I cannot recommend these collections enough. We are commanded "seek, and ye shall find." I Gave Her a Name is a perfect resource for those seeking our Mother. The words are healing and the illustrations are gorgeous (even in B&W). We do not live in a Motherless house."

I Gave Her a NameDeluxe Full Color Edition Rachel Hunt Steenblik Ashley Mae Hoiland 9781948218139 Books Reviews

  • Rachel Hunt Steenblik stuns me again with another exquisite volume of her original poetry. This collection captures and distills many grown up experiences; not just of motherhood and family, but of responsibility, loss, and carrying on--as we all must do. Rachel spins poems that are both deeply personal and universal and I always end up reading for longer than intended, it's a wonderful reason to stay up a few minutes later.
  • I Gave Her A Name is full of beautiful, heartfelt poems that bring Heavenly Mother's presence into your heart and invite you to come to know Her again and again. Rachel Hunt Steenblik's poems are a gift bridging the gap between the often absent discussion of Heavenly Mother by making Her present in the simple moments of everyday life. I have loved incorporating Mother's Milk poems in lessons and talks and I am grateful for even more lovely poems!
  • This book of poetry is just as beautiful and just as fulfilling as its precursor, Mother's Milk. It fills my heart and helps me know all that I was missing, and gives me permission to seek and find my Heavenly Mother.
  • I can’t say how much I loved I Gave Her a Name! This book is so comforting, And loving, powerful, and intuitive. The artwork adds to the comforting and creative tone of the book as well. I can’t recommend this book enough.
  • Before I came across Mother’s Milk, I was one of those people who didn’t think much about Heavenly Mother. Looking for answers made me uncomfortable and nervous, but that book of poetry brought the Spirit into the subject like I had never felt before. I Gave Her a Name is a magnificent companion to that book. What I love most is the way the most normal of things are traced back to Her. Reading these poems has made me realize how every single thing in my life is a reflection of my Heavenly Mother. I cannot recommend it highly enough! This is going to be my go-to gift of the year.
  • I loved Mother’s Milk, and I loved I Gave Her a Name. We do not live in a Motherless house.
  • This is beautiful work. In reading it I am brought closer to Heavenly Mother.
  • Sometimes we feel deep inside of ourselves that something is missing, something needs to change. It's easy to look around at the world, feel the heartbreak, and experience despair. But I have learned that when that aching is coupled with vision, hope is born. Hope truly is the capacity to see in vision, in our hearts, "a better world." Hunt-Steenblik and Hoiland's book does two remarkable things 1) it provides with stunningly simple language and with vibrant color a vision of a world full of the power of the divine feminine, and 2) it reveals that we are already living in that world. By drawing attention to the ways in which Heavenly Mother sustains us in our daily moments of joy and sorrow, the book teaches women and men how to live in the "better world" now, how to show great love with simple words and with sunbursts of color. This book brings both hope and power to my home.

Container Atlas A Practical Guide to Container Architecture Hans Slawik Julia Bergmann Matthias Buchmeier Sonja Tinney 9783899556698 Books Reviews

  • Great book, nice size with some great project examples and some very useful diagrams and charts. If you are looking for a starter/all encompassing overview on container design and some great examples with history and such, this is a good book.
  • This is a really informative book. If you are seriously thinking about building with shipping containers, this is well worth the money and will save you from possible mistakes. Lots of technical stuff I didn't understand, but I think this would be
a valuable aid to any builder.
  • So many many plans. Lots of pertinent information for someone thinking of building a container home/structure. Worth every penny!
  • Comprehensive and thorough.
  • It's pretty good.
  • Great book!
  • The quality of the photographs was excellent and the book is well printed on good paper. There was a good history of the containers themselves as well as detailed descriptions of the various sizes in the industry. The book contained a much broader expanse of what can be done building with shipping containers. I expected just offices and homes but museums, retail spaces art projects were also included. It is well worth the cost. My fiance and I both enjoyed it.
  • Great resource

The Truth About Men Audible Audio Edition DeVon Franklin Simon Schuster Audio Books Reviews

  • Initially, I bought this book merely to be supportive of DeVON Franklin. I celebrate the integrity of his persona; I also respect the quality and morality of his work in entertainment. While I realize no one's a saint and no one's achieved perfection, I'm always fascinated when a person is brave enough to be true to a higher standard even when they may work in an industry that readily rewards other behavior. BUT - OH GOODNESS THE BOOK IS SURPRISINGLY GOOD! Please forgive me for failing to even consider that I ACTUALLY NEEDED TO READ THE BOOK. (type out the embarrassed🙈emoji here). The book is so transparent, complete with first-hand testimony and revelation. I learned things about the male mind that changed my approach to certain things. I'm also elated to witness the emergence of men like DeVON that are "alpha" enough to face correction and accountability. He shares critical advice about gender and relationships, and he makes me feel that there's no longer any need for the BATTLE OF THE SEXES. This book fosters an understanding that we are all in this together as brothers, sisters, spouses & friends....as we overcome the flaws and deficiency of the human condition, books like "The Truth About Men..." will be important catalysts Congrats DeVON...You've Done an Amazing Job...You Are a Part of the Elevation of the Culture!
  • The Truth About Men...a must read for men and women! This book has raw, honest, and transparent truth about men and includes prayers and questions for self reflection and assessment. This book is a life changer!
  • This book gives excellent insight for both men and women. For men, I imagine it’s good to hear that you aren’t struggling alone and there is hope with practical steps on being a better man. For women, it’s helpful to know how men are struggling and what can be done to help. Also for women it’s good to see the pitfalls to avoid as to not get stuck in a relationship that’s not good.

I really like this book because Devon is honest with what he’s saying but he’s also being a Christian man about it!
  • I absoulety reccommed this book 100% it’s like having a personal accountability partner with you at all times. It’s the Truth we need to succeed in life and relationships.
  • I fail to understand how anybody could get anything useful out of this book! I'm female and I thought it would give me some insight into men's thinking... wrong! It's true that there are some not-so-good men in this world, but according to this author, all men are just horrible human beings. No wait, men aren't even human... they are nothing but dogs. And really, really BAD dogs at that.
Seriously? I've lived long enough to know that not all men have nothing on their minds other than humping the next leg (woman) that comes within view. Most men -- once they are in their 30's or so -- have far more of a balance of character and morals than this guy seems to think. Maybe he was that kind of guy, but not all men are.
He goes on and on about celibacy. According to him, all men and all women should be celibate. Forever. Or, at least until they get married. For most 'real' people in the 21st century, it does not apply. And should not, in my experience. He needs a reality check that not all men and women *want* to get married!
He sort of claims that as long as you don't have sex, you can do all kinds of other things such as make tons of money and spend a zillion hours in the gym... and this will transform a man from being a dog into being something just wonderful.
This author must live in some kind of La-La Land.
  • I’m very supportive of Devon Franklin and would have only done myself a disservice to have not invested my time to reading another great book written by him. The Truth About Men is so transparent and gives you so much insight. DeVon is merely releasing a movement that is so contagious and positive, how could you not connect yourself to a higher vibration of self realization and improvement. All of his work from his teachings, readings and films are ushering in a new celebration of self love, self reflection, faith, healing, understanding, revelation and elevation!
  • This book completely changed how I view men. So eye opening and real. I have learned so much and I am only half way through the book. I can see this will be a go to book often when I am struggling with behaviors from my husband that make zero sense to me! Thank you Devon your candor was so enlightening.
  • The is a powerful book i highly recommend that you buy it now everyone . Even buy it for everyone you know. That's how good this book is. There is so much wisdom in this book. Keep on reading.

Midnight Train to Paris City of Light Book 3 edition by Juliette Sobanet Romance eBooks Reviews

  • Juliette Sobanet is a new writer for me and I found myself enjoying this book very much from the first page. The story involves twin girls who have a rather rough upbringing as their mother, a former prostitute, finds herself destitute after her husband leaves the family to fend for themselves. The girls share the common bond that many twins have, the ability to know how the other is doing emotionally. The situation goes from bad to worse when their mother returns to the only way she knows to make money. Flash forward to the present and see that one of the twins, Jillian Chambord is a successful newspaper journalist just about ready to publish her expose of the powerful DC political bigwig that ruined the lives of the twins growing up, meet the justice he so richly deserves. She is talking to her editor about the article when her ex boyfriend and former CIA investigator shows up at her office, saying that Jillian needs to leave, as her twin, Isla, has been abducted. Now a private investigator, Samuel has been hired by the wealthy Morel family of Paris to find Isla, the fiance' of their son, Fredderic. Little did Jillian know that heading to Paris and the Morel castle was just the start of the hunt for Isla.that would take the couple back to another time when another abduction had happened on the infamous and opulent Orient Express train. But Jillian will do anything in her power to save Isla from a fate that has been waiting for her for the last 75 years.
  • I have absolutely loved Juliette's Paris books, so I couldn't wait to read this one. This is the first serial I've read, and it's an interesting approach. I read each one as it came out. I can't decide if I had to do it all over again if I would've waited and read it all at once. But regardless, I really enjoyed the story.

Juliette's other Paris books are probably considered chicklit or women's fiction. This book was quite a departure though. I would call this a time travel romantic mystery. What I loved the most about this story is that it was totally unique! I kept constantly thinking, where did she come up with this? I literally felt transported from present day to Paris in 1937.

Juliette has a strong voice and it worked really well in this story. I absolutely loved Samuel. I'm very impressed at Juliette being able to pull off a story like this and make it work. Would highly recommend.
  • The Midnight Train to Paris by Juliette Sobanet

This story takes you on a ride of a most famous train and through time and back again to the present.
When one can put one's life in danger to save others the harmful effects of the past nightmares and mysteries.
Where a newspaper journalist and an ex-boyfriend are reunited and thrown together in a case, set out to find the answers of several mysteries of the past. Set in beautiful backgrounds of France, Paris's country sides, the mountains of the Alps and surrounding areas and also set on the famous Orient Express train.. Mysteries told and webs unwound to find answers and help find out about deaths committed long ago and save them from happening again in the present.

A whirlwind story of adventure, life, love and excitement. Where it will take this couple in future stories will be up to this wonderful story telling author. She will have you wanting more. I will definitely look forward to reading more of her book.

Thank you for a enjoyable read.
  • I received this book in installations as the author wrote it. That is the first time I have ever read a Serial Book and I
found it quite appealing. Will do it again, that is for sure.

This is one of those books that takes the characters back in time via the Orient Express to solve a European Murder
75 years earlier. If they can not get their in time....generations of people's lives will be forever be affected in a tragic way.

I loved this Author's writing style. and will want to read the rest of her books that will come out in July.

If you have never tried a serial read...do yourself a favor and give it a try. Oh, you must have an e-reader to do so.
  • I enjoyed all the twists and turns that were so unexpected. Very fast paced on the edge of your seat story. Just when you think you have it figured out, something else is thrown into the mix. If there is a sequel, I WILL be reading it. I highly recommend this book.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. Love Tanya Eby as narrator. The story had me so entranced while at work that it kept me focused and my daynflew by.
  • Good story. Well written. The book has way too much repetitive lurid detail in the violence scenes. Same with sex.-- too much and too repetitive. The story line, however, is valid, imaginative, and worth exploring.
  • This is about a young woman who must travel back in time to save her abducted twin today. It has mystery, romance, betrayal and murder.

Although it takes more than an hour to read it, it is so worth it

La Gran Novela Boricua Spanish Edition Alexis Sebastian Mendez David Alvarez Alexis Zarraga Books Reviews

  • Alexis Sebastián Méndez writes a funny and very smart tale of everything that can go wrong going wrong. It's a criticism of the way things are done and the self-serving mentality of our political and religious leaders. It's also an observation of how true conviction and beliefs can oftentimes run afoul of one's own intentions. It is, above all else, truly a very Puerto Rican story, a bit exaggerated for effect, but not by much. Great work by the creator of De-generación 80!
  • Alexis tiene un humor muy incisivo sin necesidad de llegar a ser insultante. Lo suficiente como para sacudir las neuronas que sean necesarias para parir un pensamiento crítico, y a la vez mitigar los dolores de parto con una carcajada.
  • Incredible funny and REAL!!! Alexis Sebastian use gray humor to make up realize how illogical and chaotic is our life. Many characters that we can see everyday.

Former Broadway star Tommy Jump isn't getting the roles he once did; as his final run as Sancho Panza draws to a close, Tommy is getting ready to give up the stage, find a steady paycheck, and settle down with his fiancée. Cue Special Agent Danny Ruiz. An old school friend of Tommy's, now with the FBI, Ruiz makes Tommy an offer that sounds too good to refuse. All Tommy has to do is spend six months in prison, acting as failed bank robber 'Pete Goodrich'. Inside, he must find and befriend Mitchell Dupree, who has hidden a secret cache of documents incriminating enough to take down New Colima, one of Mexico's largest drug cartels. If Tommy can get Dupree to reveal where the documents are hidden, the FBI will give him $300,000. More than enough to jumpstart a new life. But does he have what it takes to pull off this one final role?

Ebook The Last Act edition by Brad Parks Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

"Tommy Jump is a relatively unknown actor out of acts, having nothing to look forward to and in low financial straits. One of his friends invites him to consider what most would view as an unlikely scenario. It’s one that invites fine acting since it could otherwise wind up with the actor under attack or even dead. With healthy skepticism, Tommy meets with Fed agents and hears a real proposal that raises Tommy’s hackles but also intrigues him.

Imagine Mitchell Dupree is a prisoner who has been convicted of four years’ worth of money laundering for a drug cartel, New Colima, led by a vicious criminal El Vio. Mitchell still has not surrendered the information about documents in his possession that could lead to the arrest of the entire cartel and its head. Tommy’s job would be to become a prisoner and ferret out where the missing documents are being hid. The only thing the Feds don’t tell Tommy is that El Vio is trying, via a cartel Director of Security called Herrera, are relentlessly trying as hard as FBI agents to discover this missing information.

Tommy would get $75,000 just for going in and a total of $150,000 when the job is finished. This is an amazing opportunity especially as his fiancé Amanda is pregnant. Tommy’s no fool and realizes how dangerous this act could be but really has no idea of just how much a life and death scenario this could quickly become! Still, he says, “Yes.”

Entering prison under an assumed alias, Tommy spends quite a bit of time adapting to prison life and its resident prisoners. For the most part, it’s a tedious lifestyle, with information about how to obtain whatever one wants by creating a money scam around “cans” or mackerel packets to purchase contraband.

Eventually Tommy meets the object of his search, Mitchell, and winds up becoming trusted and hearing a phenomenal, unexpected story behind his capture. For a while, it’s hard to know who is legit and who’s a fraud. Read the rest of the wild ride story to find out how it will or won’t be resolved.

Brad Parks is a pro at crafting a great plot, knowing when to push up the tension and clues and keeping the reader glued to the exciting pages once the challenges get hot and hotter. This novel will make the reader read more Brad Parks novels. Terrific read for lovers of the crime fiction genre!"

The Last Act edition by Brad Parks Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

  • I’ve probably read 40 books since I considered a book to be a five star. The story is ncredible and believable. The characters so well developed and there was never a moment where the story left me wanting. Can’t say enough good. Now, I hope it does not become a movie because there is no way it can be given justice in two hours ... but a 10 hour series ... I’m in!
  • Another excellent book! My only advice is be sure you buy and read The Whistleblower before you read The Last Act. Both are extremely well done! Great job, Mr. Parks!
  • The ideia of using an actor (sorry if it is a spoiler) to get information on criminal is intriguing the book is well designed but its final surprises are a little bit forced. But it is a nice book to read at vacations, and if ypu like theather, you will like it
  • I’m giving this four stars because it was well written and pretty entertaining, but there are some elements of plot that are a little ridiculous. So many reasons why the whole situation could never happen.
  • I thought it was well written, not too wordy in description and the plot moved forward well. I just enjoyed the story.
  • The Last Act has a bit of a slow start, and to be honest, I wasn't sure if I would like the book. I've read this author before, so I should've known better because that slow start is like a calm before the storm. That lull is like a lure, pulling you into a false sense of security before it all goes crazy. The premise for this one seems over the top to me, and does require a suspension of disbelief with the danger the FBI is willing to allow a private citizen to put himself in. Tommy is offered a large sum of money for doing what he does best - acting, playing a part. Except this part may well cost him his life. Of course, the number of ways this job could go wrong kept running through my mind, and I really wanted to give Tommy a good shake to stop him. That wouldn't have made much of a story though, and off Tommy goes to prison. Naturally, things start to go wrong and just get worse from there with plenty of twists and edge of your seat moments for our characters. The story kept me turning pages, but the thing that impressed me most was Tommy. I'm not, nor have I ever been an actor, and thankfully, I've never had any dealings with a drug cartel or prison, but Tommy is just so relatable and likable that even when I wanted to scream at him not to do this, I was still rooting for him. This is one of those stories that I can easily see as a movie, and it's definitely one that I would buy a ticket to see.

  • This is the third stand-alone book that I have read by Brad Parks, and I have to say that I was not disappointed!

The Last Act is a unique story line I haven’t seen before. The FBI approaches an out of work actor Tommy Jump, and invites him to play a role of a lifetime, to be an informant for the FBI for some easy money. It hooked me from the beginning. I do admit after the beginning it was a little slow for me up until one-third the book. Maybe I’m just impatient lol, and there was a lot of back-story. But after reading the entire book I felt that was necessary to fill the reader in with character development. By half way through it moved quickly, and I was hooked! So much so and didn’t want to stop reading so I purchased the audible book on release date so when I couldn’t read I could listen. I do that a lot.
The story was well written, unique/entertaining and filled with all kinds of twists and turns I didn’t see coming. Just the kind of book I love to get lost in.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense/mystery thriller. I also highly recommend his other stand-alone novels that I’ve read. Parks is one of my go to authors for a good suspense/mystery thriller genre book now. “Say Nothing” is one of my all time favorite audible books! I’ll definitely have to go back and read his Carter Ross series to see if I like those.
*A very special thank you to Penguin Group Dutton via NetGalley for the advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review*

In this 80th installment of the exploits of bounty hunter Jess Williams, he takes on some of his most evil foes yet. Sid Norton is a tough one. The notorious killer ambushes Jess, wounds him and heads in to finish him off. Just then a young woman living in the woods with her son fires at Norton and he rides away.

The woman is named Mandy and her boy is Davey. Together they get Jess to their tent. Mandy cleans and stitches his wound and they wait for him to come around, hoping they’ve done enough to keep him alive. When Jess wakes up he’s grateful, of course, but also concerned about the two living alone in the woods. Although Mandy has spunk, the pair might not be as lucky the next time evil men arrive. He convinces them to go with him as he follows Norton’s trail to the next town.
They find that Norton has continued his murderous ways, killing off the mayor and new town marshal of Deerfield, leaving the mayor’s wife to manage the general store they owned. Elsie, however, is in a wheelchair. Jess sets up Mandy and Davey to live with her and help run the store.

Jess is anxious to end Norton’s reign of terror before the killer takes the lives of any others, but Norton has already acted. After killing two more people in Temperance, Texas, one the barkeep, Norton holes up in the saloon in a battle to the death. Jess wins that battle and then heads to California, Texas, to turn in the body.

As soon as this task is finished a wagon arrives with a woman doctor clinging to life. She had earlier tended to Jess’s wounds, but after she treated one of the Coker brothers the ungrateful killer shot her and left her for dead.

As Jess heads off to seek vengeance on the Coker brothers, he comes across an old friend, but not under happy circumstances. John Booth has been chasing a bad guy but now he’s lying in the dirt barely alive. They head to the town of Mulberry to get him treatment and go after the Cokers.

WOUNDED Eightieth in a Series of Jess Williams Westerns A Jess Williams Western Book 80 edition by Robert J Thomas Nancy Bach Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

  • The author has taken a great character in Jess Williams and turned him into a comic book persona. Shot three times in a week with 44 caliber rounds but is up and about in a couple of days??? The good doctor is shot in the stomach barley alive when she gets treatment and is up working in a week??? The stories are all alike ride into town kill a couple of men ride out on the trail get shot kill a couple men ride back to town see dr walk out get into a gunfight kill another man collect bounty leave town go after another man!!! No real story line or development of any sense of a story. He priced his books like he is a very good author but they aren’t even worth the original .99 cents they started out costing!!!! I have bought every one of the trash books hoping that the author would improve his writing ability but he actually has gotten worse with this book being at the bottom of the series!!! I will buy no more of his poor excuse for a book...
  • I have every book in the Jess Williams Series and they get better with each new one issued. I love westerns - Louis L' Amour, William Johnston and now Robert Thomas! By far, I love the Jess Williams series the best. I count down the days till the next one is released. I love the way he thinks in the series - To take down the worst of the worst, to protect the innocent and to provide help where it's needed. Thank you so much for the enjoyment I get from each book published and I hope there will be many more in the future!!
  • This is my opinion only. Thought this was very different from the other Jess Williams in the series. Jess previously didn't like disclosing his U.S. Marshal's status but in this one he almost seems proud of the fact & doesn't hesitate to inform others that he is a bounty hunter & on occasion a U.S. Marshal, almost bragging about it at times. Also, another difference...when he was about to face gunfighter Fred Kannon he says to himself, "Well Lucifer, you're about to collect one more soul...I hope."
Jess has always been positive about his abilities but yet he is now a bit doubtful. That is a somewhat scary for us who have followed right along with Jess.
Then you add to that the fact that Jess is shot several times throughout this story...makes me wonder if he's not slowing down a bit & getting ready to retire.
The title of "Wounded" fits this one but I'm hoping this isn't a snapshot of things to come.
All in all it was an exciting addition to the series & I particularly liked his new partner. Not only did Booth save Jess but they became better friends & I hope to see him team up with Jess in the future.
To sum this up, EXCELLENT! I finished it in record time & now I'm going to hate myself because I didn't take my time and savor it more. Highly recommend this fantastic western series...
  • RJT provides another classic collection of Jess Williams stories that keep you engaged and just simply do not want to set the book aside until you regretfully see the The End. Wounded provides brings the reader back to the reality that Jess Is human and capable of error, but driven to overcome those errors to bring about six gun justice. I really hope we hear more about Mandy and her son, RJT did a great job of developing their characters and I think there has to be much more to their story. Looking forward to more.
  • I started reading this book not realizing it was eighteenth in a series. I usually like to start at the first and progress with the author. I had also never read any of Mr. Thomas's stories. I really am sorry that I missed out on a master storytellers books all this time. The book starts out at a dead run and ends the same way. If you are a follower of Jess Williams western you will love this, if your not you will be when you are through reading this book.
  • I always anxiously await the next new addition of Jess Williams, each is just as good as the previous one. What I Iike most about Jess is that he always gets the bad guy and he is so generous in helping others. In Wounded Jess helps out Mandy and her five year old son Davey, after Mandy has nursed him back from an ambushed wound and she saved his life. In this book there are other people whom Jess has helped and plenty of bad guys lying in dirt blankets.
  • This is another very fine work, author Thomas. Your Jess Williams character invention is as clever as it is brilliant. I know you'll keep 'em coming, as you've given us his wife's name in an early novel, then you introduced her to your readers fairly recently. Looking forward to the "courtship", and, what you do with the very interesting secondary characters you've created...Booth, Wildcat, Olin, Nutball 😅, to name a few.
  • Jess Williams series will never get less than 5 stars from me. Roberts books are enjoyable and one of those books you can't put down till the end. JESS is a hero, a rich man, a kind and charitable man, and a Killer. JESS is a bounty hunter and a US Deputy Marshall. Roberts books puts you along side Jess as he goes through life. You will enjoy meeting his friends and the people he meets along the way. Fantastic reading. ENJOY.
